Read Chapter #2.

Answer questions 6-10.

Keep a notepad handy to write down any questions you may have. Write several  paragraphs expressing your experience when you last visited a beach. If you have never visited a beach, this is the time to imagine your first visit.

 

 

QUESTIONS

6. What is the author's purpose in describing his experience with the shells?

7. Describe the cause-and-effect relationships that occur in this story.

     A- What did the boy do with the shells he collected?

     B- What did the boy do with the wooden sticks he collected?

8. What happened to the shell that stood out the most? Describe the cause and effect of this event.

9. What would be another title for this chapter?

10. Compare and contrast the two experiences the boy had while selling his art. Who influenced him the first time? The second time?

 

ART ACTIVITIES

Design four creative images that you would like to transfer onto different seashells or different scenes in the chapter. Add color to your designs and imagine you are at the beach. Make sure that all of your designs are different in order to have variety and interesting reactions from your classmates.
